I have known the man since he was 14 years old. He has always been quiet and well reserved. Other than his smashing good looks he would not be the type of person who would stand out in a crowd. Only a small chosen few of us are lucky enough to get to see the goofy side that deep down he truly does have.
With that being said...This weekend we were invited to a Halloween Party for adults only.
Oh goodness, that means we have to find something to wear!
Here is where the panic and me stressing out about everything starts to arise…Iwanted an outfit that was cute yet comfortable to hang out in all night, one that didn’t require any kind of make-up that would sweat or run off. I also didn’t want to go out and buy anything expensive for just one night either. And if that wasn’t enough, I wanted us to do a “couples” costume too. ex: Little Red Riding Hood & the Big Bad Wolf So here I am panicking with all these objectives that I have set, I also had to go and think of something that was decent enough for the man to even AGREE to wear as well. {Thinking in the back of my head-yeah, right…that’s NOT ever going to happen!}
So here it is the day before the party…I want to wear this, no he’s not going to wear that, I will just go buy something, no I’m not going to go buy a costume or two costumes for just one night…ughhh…back and forth I went, over and over in my head…what are we going to wear!?!
Cleaning the house I come across the boy’s football gear…hmmm, the wheels start turning. I look at it and think “heck no is my 11 year old boys gear going to fit my big butt”. And then what if it did? Is the man really going to be my cheerleader?? HA HA HA- NOO!!!! So as quickly as the thought entered my mind, it left. It’s back to the drawing board I go!
ITS PARTY DAY!!
My Moma comes over to watch the kids for us, we still don’t know what we are going to wear, and the party is less than 4 hours away. Getting desperate, I decide I’m just going to go try on the boys’ football gear…surprisingly enough, it FITS!!
HALLEJUAHHHHH!!! {Yes, I begin to sing}
Ok, I think to myself, one down….now what about the man, he ISNT going to dress as a girl, no way in H*LL!
I go and tell him what I’m going to wear and casually I mention he can be my cheerleader.{He knew how much I REALLY wanted to do the couple thing}He looks at me with that you’ve got to be freakin kidding look in his eye, frowns and says to my surprise…well, where am I going to get a cheerleader costume?!
OH MY GOSH…did he really just say that?!?! Is he really going to go along with it?? No way, not MY man!!
But he does…this is where a lot of the fun truly happened. We went out and found him a 3 dollar wig…that’s it, that’s all we spent on our costumes, pretty good if you ask me! We came back home, the man tried on countless skirts and tank tops{Oh the laughter} but we just couldn’t get the cheerleader “look”. And to top it all off, we couldn’t find any pom poms either! Ugh, so here we are already 15 minutes late to the party and still trying to figure out what he is going to wear!! Although the sites of watching him fiddle with putting on a bra and trying to stuff it with balls, socks and whatever else he could find to make it look “realistic” was fun, we still weren’t any closer to finishing his costume. Then all of a sudden he comes waltzing in the room with his wig on and a CROWN on his head acting so super silly, that’s when it hit us…he can be a PROM QUEEN!!
It’s 10 minutes to 8:00, we put together a cute ensemble for him, fix his hair, get him some shoes, snap a few pictures and we take off!

Although we didn’t think our costumes were that great everyone at the party loved them and my man my Prom Queen was a HUGE hit! All night my man my Prom Queen was being hit on leaving this Quarterback sitting on the side lines! Ha-ha! The party was so much fun; we really have been blessed to find such a wonderful group of friends out here.
I am so proud of my man for being such a good sport and doing something SO very out of his character. After almost 14 years of marriage the man still manages to surprise me and make me love him more and more each and every day!
